Another ApHC Member Advantage!

The ApHC is pleased to announce that members owning Appaloosa breeding stallions now have the opportunity to file annual stallion breeding reports on-line.

To file your Appaloosa stallion breeding report(s) on-line simply log into the Members Only section of the ApHC website (www.appaloosa.com) and select the “My Stallion Reports” menu option.

To create your stallion breeding report(s), click on the “Create New Stallion Breeding Report” button and enter the requested information.

To update, delete, or add information to a report that has already been created simply click on the “Edit Report” link next to the open report that you wish to change.

On the My Stallion Report webpage you will see a listing for Open Reports and Submitted Reports.

Open Reports are stallion breeding reports that you are currently entering but have not completed or submitted. You have an ability to enter breeding information throughout the year and the system will retain all information. Just remember to submit the report prior to the November 30th deadline so late fees will not be incurred!

Submitted Reports are reports that you have submitted on-line to the ApHC for approval. Once your on-line stallion breeding report has been verified as being correctly filed it will be uploaded for you to view via the Web.

Users are required to pay stallion breeding report fees at the time of submission. All submitted stallion breeding reports will automatically have work orders allocated to them as proof of your payment. Any reports submitted after the November 30th deadline will be subject to late fees.

Once in a while you meet someone whose life touches others in a special way and Susan Zimmerman was one of those people. Born Susan Ann Hollenbaugh in Naval Hospital of San Diego, California, to parents Janice and Robert Hollenbaugh, Susan grew up with her sister, Nancy. She was a horse crazy, “wild about the western way of life” cowgirl. although Susan lived the majority of her life in San Diego she longed for the Texas lifestyle and was planning to buy her dream ranch and move there in her retirement. The award winning horsewoman spent her spare time honing her riding skills and training her Appaloosa horses with her friends. Susan was an active member of the Calizona Appaloosa Horse Club and spent many hours announcing at horse shows and manning the entry gate for the club.

Susan had a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and lived according to her faith and the creed of her favorite movie star, Hopalong Cassidy, which included being kind to animals, truthful at all times, respectful of her parents and proud to be an American. A celebration of her life is being planned. She will be missed by those who loved her and those whose path was touched by hers.

The ApHC Planning & Review Committee is in the process of developing policies relating to this option as well as some general Internet usage guidelines for social media, email and other interactions for full consideration by the Board of directors. These proposed policies will be on the agenda for the March board meeting. Once the specifics have been established and approved by the Board of Directors, the ApHC will be able to provide appropriate notice of any future webcasts and ensure that procedures and schedules are publicized well in advance of meetings or events. For the March, 2012 meeting, committee and board agenda items will be posted on the appaloosa.com website and members are encouraged to visit with their respective directors to discuss specific recommendations or ideas.

The American Competitive Trail Horse Association is proud to announce Season Two of America’s Favorite Trail Horse, a national TV Series in search of America’s favorite trail horse. “Season One of America’s Favorite Trail Horse was a huge success! The horses we met and the stories that we shared touched our hearts, there was no way that we couldn’t do this again” stated ACTHA co-founder Karen VanGetson. “Our mission is to give the great trail horse the recognition it deserves and this is a wonderful opportunity to do just that”.

In a similar format to Season One, horses all over the country will have a chance to compete to win over $100,000 in cash and prizes, including a new 4 Star living quarter’s trailer. The finals will be held at the beautiful Franklin Family Ranch in Blanco, TX and will be aired on RFD TV!

Do you have a great Trail Horse? Have a partnership you’d like to share with America? TELL US YOUR STORY! We’re looking for all breeds, all skill levels, and lots of personality! Season 2 of America’s Favorite Trail Horse will be completely new! The emphasis this season will be on the horse/human interest story. Every equine and their human partner have a story, a partnership, a bond…we want to hear it! We want to broadcast it to the world and show how awesome the great American Trail Horse is, and we want you to tell us your journey! Each horse and rider in the Finals will be showcased in one of thirteen 1-hour episodes. America will vote for their favorite trail horse during 10 voting episodes, and then America votes again for their favorite from the top winners to crown America’s Favorite Trail Horse 2012!

More Options for 2012!
Season 2 brings some exciting changes. We have designated two divisions to accommodate different levels of competition. The divisions are Professional and Pleasure. We will also offer Live Auditions as well as Video Auditions. See details on our website. We want you on RFD TV this Fall! Go to www.actha.us to register today!

Click on “Show” and then click on “Verify Your Membership and Novice Eligibility Here”. Enter your membership number and click “Submit” for a list of classes in which you are eligible to show in the novice division.

If you checked this information prior to January 11, the information that appeared was still for the 2011 calendar year. We’ve now closed out the 2011 show year and re-calculated novice eligibility for 2012. Please check again!

The records indicated on this list include only the points and titles earned in ApHC-approved or -sponsored competitions. If you have earned points in excess of the limits listed below or have earned any National or World titles with any other equine breed association, you are expressly denied the ability to compete as a novice non-pro and/or novice youth (in that specific class). Eligibility listings on this record do not guarantee novice eligibility if points and/or titles earned with another breed association eliminate you from eligibility.

And remember to print a copy of your listing in order to present to show officials at any ApHC-approved show that you attend in 2012!

Novice Non-Pro eligibility:
In order to be eligible to show in novice non-pro classes, the non-pro must have fewer than 20 points (including points earned in non-pro, novice non-pro, 35 & over non-pro, masters non-pro, youth and novice youth divisions) in that class in the ApHC and/or any other breed association as of January 1 of the current year and must not have won an ApHC non-pro National or World title or title in any other equine breed association in that class (beginning 1/1/1996). In addition, former professionals reclassified as non-pros are ineligible to compete in any novice classes.

Novice Youth Eligibility:
To be eligible to show in a novice youth class, the youth, as of January 1 of the current year, shall have earned less than a combined total of 20 points in the ApHC and/or any other breed organization –approved or –sponsored shows in the group of youth and novice youth classes that count toward determining novice eligibility in each of the five novice youth classes, excluding walk-trot, leadline, hunter in hand and halter. The youth must not have won an ApHC youth National or World title or title in any other equine breed association (beginning 1/1/1998) in that class to remain eligible. Youth may be ineligible for one class (based on points or titles earned) but may still be eligible to compete in other novice youth classes.

In addition to the fabulous Calizona group riding in the Rose Parade dressed in Nez Perce attire, we heard from Leslie Foxfog about this bonus for our breed:

We also wanted you to know that another Appaloosa was prominent in the Tournament of Roses Parade – his registered name is Destiny Seabreeze previously owned by Doug Danner of Solana Beach, California. The Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) was riding him in front of the EPlatoon (Equestrian Platoon). The Appaloosa was a stand out as the only “white/grey” horse in the whole entire unit. What significance for the Appaloosa breed that went mostly unnoticed by all but the true appaloosa lover. Those of us Appaloosa lovers were very proud to see this happen and ridden by such a prominent figure in Southern California. They had the highest police leader on the “BEST” horse!!!!! Appaloosas were not only done proud by Calizona but by this very action.

The Chief also rode Destiny Seabreeze and performed at Equestfest. Doug Danner was a member of Calizona ApHC for several years and we are proud on his behalf that his horse was in the parade.
