The Appaloosa Horse Club is excited to announce the new affinity partnership with Equi-Rescue, ltd. Equi-Rescue is the nation’s premier roadside assistance for people trailering horses. Equi-Rescue offers their coverage through National Safe Drivers, a 50-year-old company with amazing reviews.
Equi-Rescue provides full roadside assistance for members in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. As part of the agreement, ApHC members will receive a special discount on both basic and enhanced plans. Normally, the basic plan is $64.95 and the enhanced plan is $119.95 annually.
Rick Young, along with his late father Roy, has been involved in the ApHC since the beginning. Rick will serve as the marketing representative for this new affiliation. “It does everything the AAA type plans do, but we also cover the big rig trucks, trailers and family cars at a cheaper price” says Rick. ApHC members can learn more about Equi-Rescue or enroll online at www.equi-rescue.com/aphc. For additional details, members can email info@equi-rescue.com or call Rick directly at (985) 507-4417.
In case you are planning to be in the Jackson neighborhood for the 2010 ApHC Membership Meeting, the date was listed incorrectly in the June magazine. The date is actually THURSDAY JUNE 24TH, 1:00 PM. in the Trade Mart Building at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds.
ApHC has updated Web site access to include novice eligibility information for those members who haven’t yet renewed their membership for 2010. Since so many members purchase membership at the first show they attend, it’s important for show organizers and members alike to have access to accurate information on the novice status of those exhibitors. Visit www.appaloosa.com, click on “Show” and then click on “Verify Your Membership and Novice Eligibility Here”. Type in a membership number and click “Submit” for the latest information. This is a great tool for regional shows to use when checking in horses and riders at the show office. Instant access to membership and novice information is just a few clicks away.
The ApHC I.T. department has finalized the programming necessary to track novice non-pro status by class. This information will be available to customers after all show results and awards have been calculated and verified for 2009. Once the 2009 point year is closed, novice eligibility data for 2010 will be available on the ApHC Web site. The ApHC expects to have the 2009 point year finalized by January 20. After that date, novice eligibility information will be available to on-line users.
The ApHC will not send out novice stickers in 2010 due to this change. However, non-pro and youth members can access current membership status and novice eligibility information free of charge by logging on to www.appaloosa.com. Customers may still receive verification of membership status and novice eligibility by fax by calling the ApHC office to request this information (standard fax charges of $5 for the first page and $1 for each additional page of information apply).
Breeders Trust Showcase advertising deadline is Tuesday December 15th! To promote your BT-enrolled stallion in the February Journal call Hannah Hathaway or email: advertising@appaloosajournal.com.
Changes to “Members Only” online services:
ApHC members now have access to records of any ApHC-registered horse, allowing members to research prospective breeding or purchase decisions. Members are also able to purchase any horse’s information, including pedigree, production and performance records, and awards. The reports are reasonably priced, ranging from $1 to $5. Effective January 1, your 10 free pedigrees per month will be replaced with a $10 per month credit toward data services. That’s $120 worth of free services per year just for being a member!
Members will continue to have free access to reports of horses they own (until the end of this month to help us verify processes and navigation). Money can be added to individual accounts for additional purchases. Visit appaloosa.com and click “Member Sign In” to get started.
Stallion Services Auction continues until January 31st
Stallion services that were not sold at the 2009 World Show are available online at www.horseauctionandmore.com?stores.php?store=790 until the end of January.
Exemplary Regional Club entries are due January 30th
The ApHC is encouraging all regional clubs to get involved and submit a scrapbook detailing the club’s activities during 2009 for a chance to win up to $500. The Exemplary Regional Club winner will be recognized in the Appaloosa Journal, receive a complimentary booth space at the National or World shows, be recognized at the annual award banquet and receive a perpetual trophy for the year. More details are available on the appaloosa.com site.
