Appaloosa Journal for Soldiers

The recent Veterans Day “holiday” reminded me that the Appaloosa Journal has a neat new program for our overseas warriors.

If you have a family member or friend serving abroad in our Armed Forces who is an Appaloosa enthusiast and would appreciate a special complimentary subscription to AJ, sign them up!

AJ for Soldiers subscriptions are free to valid APO addresses, last for six months at a time and are renewable for the length of overseas deployment.

In response to members who have family serving overseas who grew up with Appaloosas and miss being around beloved spots, we are happy and honored to offer this new program. Give the gift of free Journals to a horse-loving soldier—all you have to do is sign a soldier up by visiting the AJ website (click on the “magazine” tab). The soldier will receive a current 6-month subscription which can be renewed.

The Appaloosa Journal is now your complete lifestyle source

We are proud to announce that in 2011, we’ll be launching a new year and a new look to the Appaloosa Journal with a series of lifestyle pages featuring Christi Proctor, owner of Moon Rein Interiors, and Shana Gibson of Modern Cowgirl.

Christi, a former designer on “Trading Spaces” and a non-pro reiner under the guidance of Terry Thompson, will show you how to decorate for an upscale western lifestyle.

Shana is a lifetime horse enthusiast and owner of Modern Cowgirl. Her role will be to help you “find your best style.”

Journal Editor

Dana Russell will begin duties as Appaloosa Journal editor after January 1st. Some of you may already know Dana, but you may not know that she has specific experience as a horse breed magazine editor, as a successful manager of people and as an agricultural extension specialist for the Peace Corps. Most importantly, she is a lifelong Appaloosa person with the requisite “passion for the breed.” Dana is a graduate of the University of New Mexico with a degree in communication.
