The sale fees are as follows:

Performance Permit Sale Fees

Foal date to 24th month foal date:
Appaloosa x Appaloosa…
member $150 non-member $215

Appaloosa x Approved Breed…
member $150 (save $100) non-member $215 (save $100)

25th month and thereafter:
Appaloosa x Appaloosa…
member $150 (save $150) non-member $215 (save $150)

Appaloosa x Approved Breed…
member $200 (save $300) non-member $265 (save $300)

The rationale is probably obvious that we’d like to provide an opportunity for owners of older non-permit horses to do some catching up at a reasonable price. Then, the goal is to get those horses out of the barn and into competition of all sorts where the rest of the world can see more good Appaloosas and their versatility.

Another ApHC Member Advantage!

The ApHC is pleased to announce that members owning Appaloosa breeding stallions now have the opportunity to file annual stallion breeding reports on-line.

To file your Appaloosa stallion breeding report(s) on-line simply log into the Members Only section of the ApHC website (www.appaloosa.com) and select the “My Stallion Reports” menu option.

Just remember to submit the report prior to the November 30th deadline so late fees will not be incurred!

Submitted Reports are reports that you have submitted on-line to the ApHC for approval. Once your on-line stallion breeding report has been verified as being correctly filed it will be uploaded for you to view via the Web.

Users are required to pay stallion breeding report fees at the time of submission. All submitted stallion breeding reports will automatically have work orders allocated to them as proof of your payment. Any reports submitted after the November 30th deadline will be subject to late fees.

The ApHC Planning & Review Committee is in the process of developing policies relating to this option as well as some general Internet usage guidelines for social media, email and other interactions for full consideration by the Board of directors. These proposed policies will be on the agenda for the March board meeting. Once the specifics have been established and approved by the Board of Directors, the ApHC will be able to provide appropriate notice of any future webcasts and ensure that procedures and schedules are publicized well in advance of meetings or events. For the March, 2012 meeting, committee and board agenda items will be posted on the appaloosa.com website and members are encouraged to visit with their respective directors to discuss specific recommendations or ideas.

Thanks to Carla Peacock for providing this good-news PR story from the Dal-Worth Club:

The Dal-Worth ApHC tried a new marketing approach to try to get new youth into our breed and shows. Much like the “bring your kid to work” program, we tried “bring your barn buddy to the show.” There are plenty of youth and non-pro horses that are “packers” at the shows and whose owners agreed to make available for the “guest” riders to utilize for the show.

We offered an iTunes gift card to the person bringing the barn buddy IF the barn buddy joined the ApHC. If they joined the ApHC, we gave them a free Dal Worth membership and allowed them to ride in the youth classes for $5 per class. We figured we would accomplish several things with this: the guest rider would join the ApHC (revenue for the ApHC) and they would be an additional entry in the class. Although they would not earn national points because they would not own the horse, they would count for entries and points for those youth chasing points.

The purpose of the entire deal was to get the kids that rode (either in a lesson program or in another breed) to our shows and competing in our events. We wanted them to experience the fun family atmosphere that is present at the ApHC shows (you have to admit that you won’t find a nicer group of people that the ApHC people!) and get hooked on the friendly and fun competition there. That would hopefully lead to a possible lease of an Appaloosa or even better yet the purchase of an Appaloosa!

Well, it was only one person, but this story has come full circle. There was a young girl named Brooked Dryden that was riding at the barn where Debbie Ryan keeps her horse. Debbie decided to use this program to introduce Brooke to the wonderful Appaloosa people. She arranged for Brooke to utilize her seasoned show horse, JB Fine N Dandy at the Dal Worth Spring Spectacular held in April in Glen Rose, Texas. Brooke joined the ApHC and we gave her a free Dal Worth membership. She showed in several classes for only $5 per class. Brooke had a great time and was in love with JB! Almost as if it was perfectly choreographed, Brooke leased JB and actually went to the Nationals! She had so much fun and was making so many new friends that her family bought her their own Appaloosa while they were in Tulsa!

It was only one new youth member, but it led to a purchase of an Appaloosa and what will hopefully be a long time relationship with our breed. If every club could generate just one new youth per year, think about how many new youth that would bring into our industry! The Dal Worth club liked the response so much that we are going to continue to offer the incentives and run the promotion in the hope of introducing more new youth to our wonderful Appaloosa every year!

This is the second time that the CZ Parade group will appear in the parade with their first appearance January 2010.

The 2012 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California is themed “Just Imagine” and will be held Monday, January 2 (not January 1st in a tradition every seven or so years to not hold the parade on a Sunday). The CZ group consists of 12 mounted riders dressed in the traditions of the Nez Perce and northern plateau and plains region heritage costume and regalia.

To quote the opening on their application, “Just Imagine … an animal so deeply embedded in the way of life of one culture that it almost became lost but over time, developed and changed because of the hearts and desires of a second people. Close your eyes and let your imagination take hold. Listen for the faint sound of hooves and see in the distance images of spotted horses, manes and tails floating on the breeze, as they run carefree across the vast open landscape of the western northern plains. Listen more closely as the air is filled with the faint sweet sound of tingling bells and cones as their music joins the sound of hooves on the hard ground growing ever closer. Open your eyes to see that sometimes what is just imagined … has come to life! Look for the Calizona Appaloosa Horse Club equestrian group to follow in the footsteps of their forefathers in the time honored horse parade tradition to celebrate in the Tournament of Rose Parade and promote the spirit of the Appaloosa Horse with the thousands of Appaloosa owners that enjoy the horse today.
