ApHC Announces 2013 Hall of Fame Inductees

ApHC-75th-anniversaryThe Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) is pleased to announce the 2013 Hall of Fame Inductees. The Appaloosa Hall of Fame was created in 1986 with a purpose of recognizing individuals and horses whose contributions have made an impressive and lasting impact on the industry as well as the ApHC. Each year nominations for the Hall of Fame are submitted by the ApHC membership. The ApHC Board of Directors then review each nomination and vote to determine the horses and individuals this prestigious honor will be bestowed upon.

Horses Inducted:
Andrews Centerfold, – (automatic induction – earned Bronze Supreme Dam Production
Plaque in 2013) 1995 mare bred by Judi A. Claude of Woolstock, IA and owned by the
James H. Wild Trust of Sarcoxie, MO.
Dandy Zippo – 1988 stallion bred by Prairie Grass Farms, Inc. of Oklahoma City, OK and
last owned by Janet Amy Wollowick of Hollywood, FL.
Post Haste – 1971 stallion bred by Cynthia G. Grenfell of Cerrillos, NM and last owned by
John W. Whitford of Lees Summit, MO and Susan S. Kidd of Lynnville, TN.
Sure Nuff Fast – (automatic induction – earned a Bronze Supreme Dam Production Plaque
in 2013) 1997 mare bred by David F. Mackie and Susan C. Mackie of Houston, TX and
owned by Gary Vaughan of Coalgate, OK.
The Dreamanator, – (automatic induction – earned 14 bronze medallions) 2005 gelding
bred and owned by Earl A. Steinert of Strafford, MO and Stephanie Steinert Stewman of
Dallas, Texas.

The above inductees will be honored at the 2013 Year-End Awards Banquet held in conjunction with the 67th National Championship Appaloosa Show in Fort Worth, Texas. In addition, each Hall of Fame inductee will be recognized on an engraved plaque featuring a photograph and biography to be on permanent display in the Appaloosa Museum.

Appaloosa Horse Club and The Trail of Painted Ponies Partner On Art Competition

small web bannerThe Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) is pleased to announce its partnership with The Trail of Painted Ponies in celebration of the ApHC’s 75th Anniversary. Artists and non-artists alike are encouraged to submit designs that embody the “Celebrating the Beauty and History of the Appaloosa Horse” theme for possible production into a world-renowned Trail of Painted Ponies figurine.

Designs will be accepted from March 1 to May 1, 2013. Prizes will be awarded in two categories: 1) Breed and 2) Native Heritage. The first place design in each category will be awarded a $500 cash prize. Second place will be awarded a $250 cash prize, and third will receive merchandise from The Trail of Painted Ponies and the ApHC. Submissions will not be returned.

Artists may select from five copyrighted and registered Painted Ponies forms on which to submit their design. There is no submission fee, and artists may submit multiple designs. Judging will be based on beauty, skill, creativity and originality, along with the concept and story of the design. The artist’s thoughts or story behind the design must be included.

The top designs received before April 1, 2013 will be featured on the facebook pages of Trail of Painted Ponies and Appaloosa Horse Club.

“The Trail of Painted Ponies is proud to partner with the Appaloosa Horse Club to create this exciting new art competition which celebrates the beauty and history of the Appaloosa horse and the 75th anniversary of ApHC,” said Rod Barker, founder, The Trail of Painted Ponies. “This art competition will raise invaluable awareness of the great work of the Appaloosa Horse Club, while searching for the best new artistic talent in America. The winning Painted Pony from this competition may have the honor of being crafted as a collectible figurine from The Trail of Painted Ponies.”
