Appaloosa National Championship Endurance Ride

Forgot to tell you that I had the pleasure of attending this year’s ANCER in Oregon. It was a lot like the old days of watching my daughter at cross country meets…see the start and see the finish with a few glimpses in between. In the case of the route though, the start/finish area was also the site for periodic vet checks and rest breaks so there was plenty to see among those participating in a 100-miler, 50-miler and 25. The ANCER is a 50 mile trek. The high desert country is dramatic and changes considerably as the day progresses.

Complete results are posted in the trail/distance section of (or soon will be). Pictured here is Jacob Cukjati and MIAMIS KEKIONGA SHA, ANCER winner and 9th place finisher overall in the 50-miler. A big thank you to the Oregon Trail ApHC for their support and hospitality. It was definitely fun to present the awards and mix with a group of dedicated Appaloosa fans. We also very much appreciate the support of Tioga Territory, Texas Equine Mercantile, Montana Silversmiths, Lucie Hess and Penny Whitehead.

Steve, THANK YOU for attending the 2012 ANCER. It was a pleasure to share our cherished sport with you. We all work really hard to get our horses (and keep them) at this caliber of competition. All our participants this year were classy folks and we are so proud of them for representing Appaloosas in Distance sports. Thank you for this, it means so much! 🙂
