Strategy question #3

Regional Clubs and their relationship with the ApHC are on the list of strategy priorities. Assuming there’s no additional money to invest in “incentives,” what two or three things would be mutually beneficial to the partnership? Hint: Communication, workshops, approved classes, rules, schedules, online services, joint dues, deadlines, awards, co-sponsorships, territory shows, etc.

What benefit does the ApHC provide for regional clubs now besides eligibilty to ApHC Breed Shows?

What does the ApHC provide a regional club that the clubs couldn’t get elsewhere or provide for themselves?

Again, thank you for posting these GREAT questions! Myself and another ApHC member were discussing Territory Shows this morning. I think it would be very beneficial to our Regional and National Club to create four or six “territories” and have a HUGE show within each (I was a big fan of the 8 judge show back in the day) once a year. Each Regional Club would only have to put up a portion of the cost to put on the show (arena, judges, insurance etc). I would also think that people would enjoy each Territory having a big Trail Ride once a year at maybe a National Forest Area where the fees would not have to be too high…invite NON Appaloosa owners to ride along and perhaps fall in love with the breed. Perhaps the ApHC could give a page of advertisement for the show and another for the trail ride? (It would be a maximum donation of 12 pages per year if there were 6 different territories).
Another idea….how about for every National club member a Regional club brings in, the ApHC give back half of the membership monies to the Regional Club via a Youth High Point Award (there could be different tiers of prizes set up for the amount of $ each Regional club brought in)
As far as communication, I have served as a Secretary for a Regional club and as a show secretary and the ladies in the office have always been more than helpful by sending whatever literature I needed or taking care of show and club business in a more than timely manner…can’t really ask for more than that!

I agree with Liza. Some kind of LARGE regional show could be good for the regional clubs! Several could come together and put these shows on. I like the 4 judge system because the bulk of my money is spent on hauling, gas and motels. The extra entries for the extra 2 judges are not all that important. I also feel the national point fee needs to be revisited and should include a “blanket” option of X amount per JUDGE per SHOW! This would encourage more exhibitors to enter more classes. As it currently stands, people shy away from extra classes they are not as good in because of the extra fee. The incentive money from the performance permit should either be added to the national and or world shows OR to these large regional shows to encourage people to attend. I would also like to see the color requirement to earn this money removed.

I believe we could also require people watching out national and world shows to sign in and create an account with an e-mail address. The Pintos do this and then they contact you and try to get you involved. It might also make more people want to become sponsors. We should have banners in the arenas as well.
