Greetings from the ApHC tech department,
Today we added to the web an option for those members participating in Appaloosa Racing the ability to pay their Racing fees online.
The Racing fees available for online payment are as follows:
RACING STARTERS FEE
This annual fee is to be paid before a horse’s first official race of the year. Races run prior to the payment of the Starters Fee will not be considered in year-end award calculations.
LATE RACING STARTERS FEE
This fee enables those races that occurred prior to today’s date to be include in your racing year-end award calculations.
RACE MEDALLION PERMIT FEE
This one time fee enables Registered Appaloosas with an “N” registration type to be eligible for year-end racing awards. Payment of the Racing Starters Fee will also be required to receive year-end racing awards.
The option to pay these fees online can be found by clicking on the “Online Services” link located at the top of our www.appaloosa.com web pages and then selecting the “Racing Fees” option. Or you can go to the Racing web page and click on the “Click here to pay fees online” link.
ApHC directors and several members who made it to Tulsa last week for the board meeting also got a guided tour of Expo Square, site of the 2011 National Show. In this photo, the group is visiting Ford Truck Arena. The facility staff and the community of Tulsa are excited to be hosting our shows. We also learned that we’ll have a total of three barns with new stalls available this year! In addition to the information that’s already posted on the National Show pages of this Web site, we’ll be providing updates and details regarding such things as the sweepstakes classes, local business connections, traffic flow on the grounds, etc.
It gives us great sorrow to announce the passing of Appaloosa legend and Hall of Famer, Bill Cass. Bill was an inspirational mentor, successful breeder and promoter of the Appaloosa breed for more than 40 years. He is best known for his association with the Hall of Fame stallion Colida, but he bred more than 300 Appaloosas and owned more than 270 since he joined the Appaloosa Horse Club in 1957. Please join the Appaloosa Horse Club and Appaloosa Journal in honoring his memory, and extending our deepest condolences to his friends and family.
Bill’s address was the Circle Lazy C Ranch in Welch, Oklahoma, but he was definitely a citizen of the worldwide Appaloosa community. As a point of interest, his ApHC membership number is four digits.
Just to let you know that the complete schedule for the 64th National Appaloosa Show, July 4-16, is available on the appaloosa.com Web site. Activities in Tulsa begin with the World Championship Appaloosa Youth Show. Don’t forget to make plans for the Year-End Youth Awards Banquet on Sunday July 3rd and the separate banquet for Open, Non-Pro, Race, Trail/Distance and Hall of Fame on Sunday July 10th.
Some other items for your to-do list: Encourage participation in the Youth Horse Judging Contest, plan your advertising (Journal, Yearbook, etc.), and set aside some cash for a buckle or class sponsorship. Information about Tulsa hotels can also be found by clicking on the National Show icon on the home page. The Tulsa Convention Housing Bureau can help with reservations. By the way, it’s important to use this resource as it helps us verify the total number of room nights for our show folks and ensures that we’ll get the full amount of our incentive money from the CVB. So, thanks in advance for helping us keep track.
Hope to see you in Tulsa!
We were pleased to see a Moscow to Riggins, Idaho “Road Trip” featured in the April/May issue of American Cowboy magazine. Even better, the Appaloosa Museum and Heritage Center is spotlighted as the place to visit in Moscow. There is also mention of the Nez Perce National Historic Park Visitor Center in Spalding along with John and Rosa Yearout’s Sweetwater Appaloosa Ranch near Lapwai. Another portion of the trip includes White Bird Pass and White Bird Battlefield, sites familiar to many ApHC members who have participated in the Chief Joseph Trail Ride.
We thought you might like to meet Klancy Allen. She’s our new person on staff with responsibilities ranging from judges’ coordinator to racing and awards. Klancy is a graduate of Eastern Washington University where she studied accounting and management information systems. She’s also a CPA. Importantly, she’s been an Appaloosa owner and fan, with experience in extreme trail challenges, rodeo, ranch work and mounted shooting. She takes over for Alexcia Livingstone. Welcome Klancy!
