Appaloosas Win at Open Charity Silver Buckle Show!

More good news from California:

Appaloosas showed their stuff at the Ridge Riders 10th Annual Open Charity Silver Buckle Championship Christmas Show held December 5 & 6, 2009 in West Covina, California. Showing the right stuff on Saturday in the Halter & Western Division was She’s Just Prety with Caitlyn Raysser on the lead winning the Halter Open Silver Buckle. She also won the Halter-Mares class. Dynamically Designed owned by Betty Pumpian was shown by Kris Keeler placing second in both halter color classes and 3rd in the Halter Open Buckle class.

In the Amateur Division, Leslie Foxvog showed A Magic Mister Re to a Reserve Halter Championship. Together they won the Halter for Color Breeds (50% Confirmation, 50% Color), the Halter Color Open (100% Color) and placed second in the Halter for Stallions & Geldings. Vicki Castle–Donavesky also showed her mare, Dreams and Visions, to second and third placings in the Amateur western riding classes. She came to the show to branch out and focus efforts on riding in a new division for she and her horse. Appaloosa Youth, Meghan Quigley rode her gelding, Just for Paradise, to a Reserve Youth Championship with several placings in the Youth Western classes. Maggie Nelson showed Straws Classy Lass to First Placings in the Youth 8 & Under Western Showmanship and Western Walkers classes.

Appaloosas continued their buckle wins in Sunday’s English/Over Fences Division. Kris Keeler showed Quest Pattern for owner Terry DeWitt winning the English Open Silver Buckle with multiple placings in various riding classes. Jamie Nelson and Straws Classy Lass placed in multiple classes and paired for the Reserve Amateur English Champion. Daughter, Margaret Nelson, came back again from Saturday to win the Youth 8 & Under English Showmanship and English Walkers classes.

All three Southern California Regional Clubs had winning attendees – Calizona ApHC, Spotted Valley ApHC and Southern California Appaloosa Horse Club. It’s wonderful that the Appaloosa Breed is promoted to others outside the Appaloosa show circuit and desire to “Get Spotted”. Congratulations to the winners!
