National Show sites under review

ns logoThe Board of Directors has established a site selection committee to review bids from cities/facilities interested in hosting the National Show in 2011 and beyond. Currently, ApHC is under contract with the State Fairgrounds of Mississippi to host the National Show at that facility through 2010. The site selection committee is reviewing bids from four potential sites and expects to make a recommendation to the Board of Directors by the end of 2009 regarding which bid to accept.

I think it would be great to bring the National Appaloosa Show in 2011 to The American Royal (Kemper Arena), in Kansas City, MO. It is in the middle of the country which would attract exhibitors from up north and down south. There are two very large show arenas, lots of stall space, and plenty of warm up arenas. The American Royal is a multi-complex and has a variety of events such as hockey, rodeo, arena football, etc. The quarter horse show that took place at the Royal actually was reviewed in the AQHA Journal. ApHC should really look into it.

We are currently in negotiations and a final contract will probably be approved at the March Board of Directors meeting.
