Meeting the challenge

Emily Kvamme, Idaho Falls, decided she and her Appaloosa mare would make sure there was some color in the battle of the breeds event during this year’s Idaho Horse Expo. The “class” included 11 different breed representatives performing basic pleasure gaits plus a few extra moves such as side-pass and pivots. Each competitor was also given individual time in the center of the arena for a freestyle demonstration.

Thanks to Emily and her mare, Maid Elegant, a daughter of Maid’s Dream, for stepping up and stepping out to show off some Appaloosa versatility. The duo had good support from the judges and the crowd, placing third in the class.
