Discussions in Moscow

Day One of the ApHC Board of Directors meeting this week in Moscow included a presentation by representatives of the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. The facility is interested in hosting the Appaloosa National Show if or when the ApHC contract concludes in Jackson, Mississippi. The Board was given a preliminary look at expansion and improvement plans at the fairgrounds and an overview of the city itself. Specifics of an official proposal will be provided in July.

In the photo are Tony Biancalana, Director of Internal Operations for the Iowa State Fairgrounds and Appaloosa Horse Club director Dave Schjeldahl, from Idaho Falls, Idaho.

I have heard about the improvements in Iowa. If what is proposed happens, this is going to be a first class facility like OKC. Glad they are seeking our business.

I think Des Moines is an excellent choice. I have attended several ApHC and POA events at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in the past few years and love the place! I live in Arkansas and the drive is worth it. I haven’t been back to Nationals since the move to Jackson and would definately do so for Des Moines!

I want to see the show moved back to OKC. I could not go my last Youth World show because the moved it in the first place. I live in North Texas and I show on a low budget and work with want I have but I think they should ask the members what they want THIS TIME and not do what they want. I wont be able to attend Nationals if it is not close to home I just simply cant afford it. Some may say that I’m only thinking of myself but in this case I am expecially in these times.

I was at that meeting, was extrememly impressed with that Iowa facility presentation and the facilities. Lots of folks all over the country as another commentor mentioned are on small budget show scheduals and have missed the National show for years and even decades. I hope tis moe centrally located facility gets business from the ApHC.
