Barbara Breed

We were saddened to hear news that Barbara Breed, Pembroke, New Hampshire, passed away last week after a long battle with cancer. Barbara has been a loyal and tireless supporter of Appaloosa horses, among her many, many other interests.

As the Concord Monitor notes in her obituary, “Along with breeding, training and showing, Barbara became a vibrant activist for the equine world. Since the 1970’s, she has been an officer and/or board member for the Granite State Appaloosa Association, New Hampshire Quarter Horse Association, ApHC, AQHA and New Hampshire Thoroughbred Breeders Association. In these positions, ‘BABs’ worked tirelessly to increase awareness of and improve the horse community – and this was just her pasttime passion.”

Barbara is survived by husband Harold “Buddy” Breed, daughter Denice Brouillet and grandchildren, Kelley Noel and Kyle Noel, all of Pembroke.

The photo, from the regional town hall meeting last fall, shows Barbara in serious discussion with Kip Shepard.
