51st Canadian National

arena-pic.jpgAppaloosas are in Brandon, Manitoba, this week for the Canadian National Show. Entries are up from last year and folks are having a good time. Part of the schedule is devoted to a Youth Team Tournament, with seven groups competing. Points are earned in Western Showmanship, Hunter Under Saddle and Equitation, Reining, Stakes and several other classes.

I’ve had the opportunity to visit with the leaders and members of the Appaloosa Horse Club of Canada. We’ve discussed the need for coordination and cooperation as we move forward to promote the breed in North America. The possibility of co-approving regional shows and the Canadian National seems to be at the top of the list of topics.

    Hello Steve
Quick note to express my appreication. I enjoyed our visit and conversations, I have great hopes for ApHC/ApHCC growth and joint ventures. The 2008 ApHCC Nationals were a great tribute to our horses, shared views, the strength of forward thought and the power of Youth. My hat is off to each and every kid that was in Brandon, showmanship, sportsmanship and fun was evident on every face.
Happy to hear that your second visit to the ApHCC Nationals was enjoyed. We have plenty of work to start on for 2009 and openly invite you and all that your office represents to join us in Brandon for a special show experience.

    ApHCC Director Ontario/Quebec
