61st National Show, Jackson

ns-logo.JPGThe show schedule is now available on the Web site. Click on the National Show logo button at the bottom of the home page and select “schedule” from the items listed on the show page.

As you can guess, putting all the pieces together for a week’s worth of youth championships and another week of non-pro and open classes can be a challenge. The ApHC Show Committee works with staff to develop a schedule that takes a variety of needs and requests into consideration. It’s never perfect, but believe me, all the issues and concerns about horses in multiple classes, exhibitor age divisions, tack changes, simultaneous events in two arenas, making the best use of cattle, providing appropriate time for warm-up, dirt work, awards, efficient use of judges, and on and on, are part of the process.

Premium books for the National Show are being printed and will be mailed no later than mid-March.

Wondering why on two separate nights during the youth show there is an admission charge to the arena?

Admission charge is because of special events – Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls (still wondering about the name) performance, a concert, and Mounted Shooting, among other things. We’re hoping to draw from the local area with some additional promotion of these added events. I’ll have to double check, not sure but I think exhibitors may not need to pay.

Keri reminds me that exhibitors will receive a complimentary ticket to attend the Friday night session in the Mississippi Coliseum (one ticket per horse) in their exhibitor’s packet. In addition, we will be awarding tickets as prizes in many classes during the youth show to attend the Saturday evening performance and benefit concert by Callaway.
