Ready for the trail

PICKET This photo from Juli Thorson could probably be titled, “Pre-ride Relaxation.” Horses participating in the Chief Joseph Trail Ride are assigned to the picket line, where they get acquainted and rest up before heading out on this year’s segment which is approximately 81 miles.

It’s especially interesting to see the varied coat patterns and personalities of the mounts. I was also struck by the obvious bonds between horses and owners/riders. A connection, a sense of mutual respect and a basic friendship are all in evidence. Those ingredients most certainly add to the anticipation of good times.

I love the picture of the picket line. Anyway to get it clickable so we can go to a bigger version? I would like to get a better look at the horses!

We’ll be posting a link to an on-line photo album that should provide options for you. Stay tuned.
