Unfortunately, the language in the latest bill does not just handle slaughter, but will have massive impact on people who are selling horses overseas, shipping semen, or even just trying to send their horses to international competitions (or back home after international competitions held in the US). It would be a shame to see the US be cut off from the rest of the horse world.

My understanding is the amendment specifically calls out inspections for horse slaughter. That being the case, those opposing the amendment do not have the welfare of horses in mind - only the almighty dollar. What a way to betray the unconditional trust your horses give you..

Support the Rahall /Whitfield amendment to the farm bill to stop horse slaughter.
92% of the horses going to slaughter are young and in good health according to USDA stats. Many horses are stolen or obtained under false pretences that are slaughtered also. This inhumane practice must stop and transportation of horses for that purpose must halt also.
Cruelty laws need to be strengthened and enforced. Abuse and neglect must be a felony on the 1st offense. This will help make people more responsible.

It's time to pass a Federal Bill to hault the mass slaughter of our American Horses. Theses plants promote abuse, neglect as well as a inhumane death. They also keep more illegals jobs which we have been paying border patrols to keep them out. We are Responsible horse owners and are fed up with our tax dollars promoting foreigners profits at the expense of our monies. We and will expose all sellouts to horse slaughter and will not rest I can promise you this....
