Too bad that has to happen. I have a Leopard Gelding that is terrified of humans. He was beaten for three hours in a round pen by his former owner. She beat him because "he" rode her into the fence. Silly me but who had the reins? All has not been lost. "Dakota" will always have a SAFE home with me until the great spirits call for him. I wish that thne HUMANS that bestow harm unnessary on animals would feel the same pain!!!!!

I agree, and unforunately our loved Skipper had to be put down for similar reasons today February 15, 2007. He was born in 1983 and we purchased him in 1986...he has been in our faimily 21 years!!! He tought my sister and I to ride, to win, to care, to love, to trust, and he just listened when we were sad. I didn't realize how much he helped make me into the woman I am today. I am truly sad at his passing. I can not even explain the saddness that I feel, I can only say that we have lost a family member, and he will never be forgotten. My mother is to pieces since she has cared for him everyday since the day we bought him, and she is completely lost right now. Losing and animal is not easy, but a horse is more than an animal, so much more, I can't even explain.
His appaloosa registered name was (i don't even like typing "was")
Prince Marell.....he took many awards in the ring in the late 80's and 90....but that wasn't his goal, it was to make us happy. He did, and we love him and always will. I pray he has wings and he is no longer in pain...from foundering and laminitis. Please love the ones you have. We LOVE you SKIPPY!!!!
Skipper's Family,
Kelly Bidwell (his sister)
Tracey Bidwell (his sister)
Leslie Kloskowski (his mom)
Gene Kloskowski (his dad)
Lois Tower (his nan)
and Kelcey Bidwell (his neice)
